Health is Personal – Your Health Insurance Should Be Personal Too

Get The Right Medicare Insurance
For Your Needs

If you are turning 65, it’s important to start thinking about Medicare. You want the right type of Medicare insurance plan to cover your most important and probable healthcare needs.

You can sign up for Medicare benefits as early as 3 months prior to your 65th birthday.

Medicare benefits can change yearly, and the options are complex.

Pam Morton at Benefits by Design is a full service Medicare insurance broker, with more than 30 years of experience working with Medicare Supplements, Medicare Advantage Plans, and Medicare Part D plans. She can provide the expert advice and clear and simple answers you need to determine what type of coverage is right for your situation.

Medicare is a federally administered insurance program for people 65 and older that helps pay for health care expenses with a unique benefit structure. Medicare is also available to people under 65 with certain disabilities.

Below are some of the things you may want to consider in your decision:

Medicare is a “fee-for-service” system, where a Medicare beneficiary is charged a fee for each health care service received. Basic Medicare helps with the cost of health care, but it does not cover all medical expenses, nor the cost of most long-term care. To cover more of their health care costs, many individuals pay for additional Medicare policies to supplement what Medicare pays.

The A, B, C, and D’s of Medicare

Part A

Also called hospital insurance, Medicare Part A covers the cost of hospital care, a skilled nursing facility, or hospice. Medicare Part A also covers some home health services.

Part B

Also called medical insurance, Medicare Part B covers most medically necessary doctors’ services, preventive care, durable medical equipment, hospital outpatient services, laboratory tests, x-rays, mental health care, and some home health and ambulance services.

Part D

Also called a Medicare Prescription Drug Plan, Medicare Part D is prescription drug coverage.

Part C

The Medicare Advantage (MA) Program, Part C, combines coverage for Parts A, B and D benefits. These plans are administered by private insurance companies, rather than the Federal government. In most cases, you must use the plan’s in-network doctors and facilities. Some Medicare Advantage Plans include Medicare Part D prescription drug coverage.

Medicare Supplement Insurance also known as Medigap Plans

A Medicare Supplement Insurance (Medigap) policy helps pay some of the health care costs that Medicare Parts A and B don’t cover, like: Copayments, Coinsurance, and Deductibles. Medigap policies are administered by private insurance companies.

Even with all of the above Medicare products in place, you will still need to pay for the following: long term care, vision care, dental care, hearing aids, eyeglasses, and private-duty nursing because Medicare does not cover these services except in certain situations.

Let Benefits By Design help you purchase the right type of Medicare coverage for your situation and needs. We are a full service Medicare insurance brokerage.
